Plastic pollution is snowballing; around 8 million pieces of plastic make their way into our seas daily. During a trip to Bali, we saw first-hand the devastating effects on our environment, so when the idea for CLEAN STRIKE surfaced, we knew that our bottle had to incorporate recycled and recyclable sources.
CLEAN STRIKE uses bottles made with 80% Prevented Ocean Plastic™ (with hope of that becoming 100% in the near future) , a high quality, certified and award-winning recycled plastic material that has been collected from coastal areas at risk of ocean plastic pollution. This goes hand in hand with our 'sustainable pledges' and means that each time you purchase a bottle from us, you can feel reassured in the knowledge that you are saving plastic from reaching the ocean.
Our own beach litter picking experiences and seeing the amounts of plastic waste led us to use the Prevented Ocean Plastic programme; we are incredibly proud to be partnered with them. Prevented Ocean Plastic™ explained
Prevented Ocean Plastic is the largest ocean-bound programme of its kind and works in coastal areas at risk of ocean plastic pollution in regions that lack waste management infrastructure. The programme builds a thriving local economy and prevents over 1,000 tons of plastic from entering the ocean every month.
How does Prevented Ocean Plastic™ become more than discarded waste bottles?
● Thrown away bottles are picked by collectors from areas at risk of ocean plastic.
● The bottles are sent to local collection centres for payment. Upon arrival, the plastic bottles are sorted and then pressed for transport to plastic recycling factories.
● Under European and North American quality standards the plastic is washed, sanitised, and processed into raw material flakes or pellets.
● The recycled plastic has certified traceability from coastline collection until it becomes sustainable recycled packaging for Clean Strike.
